Stansted Airport x Cambridge Regional College Collab

Project Overview

A large-scale collaborative art installation for the newly refurbished Assistance Lounge at London Stansted Airport, developed in
partnership with ABM, London Stansted Airport, and Cambridge Regional College.

The project brought together student artwork from multiple courses and campuses, transforming a high-traffic airport space into
a calm, inclusive environment reflecting travel, accessibility, and diversity.

The Challenge

Designing a cohesive visual environment across a complex, large-scale airport space while integrating a high volume of student artwork.

The installation also needed to meet strict safety and production regulations, work within budget, remain fully accessible, and deliver a visually engaging experience for passengers requiring assisted travel.

My Role

I was the sole designer leading the project from concept to in-airport delivery.

My role included developing the overall visual concept, spatial layout, and production-ready designs, as well as coordinating closely with Cambridge Regional College tutors, students, ABM stakeholders, and London Stansted Airport teams.

  • Visual concept and spatial design

  • Layout planning for a four-wall installation (including a 15m feature wall)

  • 3D visualisations and proposal visuals

  • Print and production design

  • On-site coordination and production oversight

  • Student guidance and creative feedback

Production Visuals

Production / Installation

On-site production and installation, working closely with installers to ensure accuracy, scale, and brand consistency within the airport environment.

Final outcome

The completed installation now lives within the main departures area at London Stansted Airport, forming the backdrop of the Assistance Lounge and creating a permanent, accessible visual experience for passengers.

The project was unveiled at a launch event attended by representatives from ABM, London Stansted Airport, and Cambridge Regional College.

This project remains one of the largest and most meaningful installations I’ve worked on, combining large-scale production design with collaboration, accessibility, and real-world impact.
